IRONIC

Tomorrow I'm going shopping to look for some summer sandals. I want to make it clear now - I HATE SHOPPING FOR SHOES.

As I type this I can almost hear every female suck their breath in dis belief how any normal woman could hate 1) shopping 2) especially for shoes. Now what could be the reasons for this loathing of all things shoe like I possess.

You see I have the irony to top all ironies - I have very, very, very narrow feet. Yes, you read right, n-a-r-r-o-w feet. How is it that everything else on me is wide or pendulous and in some cases - both! The only dainty things I possess are my bloody feet!

Now it hasn't always been like this folks, when I was younger ( and thinner) I never had a problem, I used to get around in 4 inch heels, ankle straps , court shoes in all textures and colours . I used to be able walk without pain, run, and dance until the wee hours of the morning.I think at one stage I owned around 70 pairs of shoes - I was a shoe-aholic. As I got older and fatter my feet paid the price and thanks to oh, around 6 stress fractures in my feet over the past 7 years I can no longer wear a heel any higher than 2 inches.

So, my choices are limited somewhat. What really jerks my chain is when I go into a shoe store most assistants take one look at me and assume fat arse means fat feet. No no-no, not in this case honey. I recall one assistant commenting on how "thin" my feet were in comparison to the rest of me, my retort was "Well, I have to have something going for me sweetheart - ha!

I can see it now, trying on endless pair after pair, that are either too wide, too high, not enough support - yada yada yada . For once I want to have something wider - my feet, please god let me find something to fit my narrow feet or at least make the rest of me narrow to match!!!

Anyway you can order online? This would save you the pains of having to even go and face ridiculous people who never have anything constructive to say. I also think it is cheaper to order online sometimes. Just a thought.

I don't enjoy shopping for shoes either - so you aren't alone in this. I think sometimes my feet are different sizes and I hate when the employee looks at me like I am a alien.

My heart bleeds for you, fancy hating shoe shopping!!! I will be thinking of you all weekend now, trudging around the shoe shops in desperation, looking for those elusive narrow summer sandals! If and when you do find them, show us!!!!!

I don't love shoe shopping either. My feet are I guess average size but more towards the wider and I have trouble fitting into some. So, I suppose I have the oppositve side from you as those cute little shoes don't usually fit me. It sucks. Hope you find something nice.

That is a bizzare story!
I have super wide feet, i always have. Even when i was thin. My shoe choices are very limited. I mostly just wear runners - mens runners at that!
Good luck sister!

I hate shoe shopping as well. My feet are so wide - my mum used to take me in to a shoe shop as a kid and say - just give her a shoe box for her feet!! We are never happy.

I hate shopping too. Hate it, hate it! When it comes to shoe shopping I also have the opposite problem, my feet are not very long, guess they are an average length for my height etc, but they are wideish and the average shoemaker makes too NARROW for me. So now when I need shoes there are only two stores I'll go to. Funny enough when I lose or put on weight, my shoes size changes as well.

It's really funny to hear all you Aussies talking about the coming of summer while in the Northern hemisphere we are facing the coming of winter(ugh and double ugh).

I think I'm going to arrange my life so I live in the Southern hemisphere, October through April and in the Northern hemisphere May through September.

I don't enjoy shopping at all any more. Used to love it, but now I just rush in and rush out. I'm still the same size as ever, and I usually don't even bother to try things on. They can always be returned if they're not "just right"

I have to say I love the "I'm watching you" clip in the corner of the screen. It literally made me laugh out loud.
